While most of the population sits back and takes a deep sigh over Golden Week, Caroline Pover will be working her socks off. True, next week she will be on the Izu Peninsula, within a stone's throw of a beach. But she'll be there also to work, not play.

"I'll be busy on the Japanese edition of my first self-published book, 'Being A Broad,' " she explains near her new office in Tokyo's Kamiyacho. Despite being one large room shared by several young foreign businesspeople, for Caroline the space is paradise. "It's great to 'come to work' instead of hopping from bed to desk to bed."

Last week she was at the Tokyo International Book Fair. "I grabbed two Japanese marketing guys, demanding: 'Where's my book? Don't you know it was a No. 1 best seller, knocking Harry Potter for six?' They didn't believe it. When they checked with someone, they were stunned, saying 'Sugoi! Superwoman desu.' I'm not, of course. But maybe I'm beginning to realize I've done something extraordinary."
