"From the walls of a building to the walls of the world."

That was the catchphrase used by exterior-cleaning company Luna Maintenance when it placed a recruitment ad in rock-climbing and mountaineering magazines.

"At one point, 80 percent of our staff were rock climbers," says Koji Yokoyama, a 35-year-old Luna Maintenance worker. "Because most of our equipment is the same as you use for climbing, it's easier for people like us to do the job."
