Company President Narumi Tanaka is alone Monday morning, holding the fort in her office in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward. Her staff -- three full-timers, one part-timer and her husband -- are out and about on what she calls "the client site." A good thing, we agree, because it means TRANSe Project is at full stretch.
TRANSe Project is a Web creation and PC support company, designing and producing communication tools such as home pages and PC networks. "Also we can offer training to instruct users in how to utilize communications tools for the needs of their business. And provide help and trouble-shooting on a contract basis, which helps supplement training to further improve PC skills."
Born in Fukui but growing up in Osaka and Kanazawa, Narumi moved to Kanto to study Chinese at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. "I'd become interested in the problems of Japanese left behind in China after World War II. My grandfather was in Manchuria, and he used to tell me stories of his time there. At university I worked as a volunteer, helping returnees learn Japanese."
