The Japan Foundation's Kyoto office is holding free weekly screenings of Japanese films for foreigners starting at 2 p.m. each Wednesday this month at its office in Kyoto's Nakagyo Ward.
Four films featuring people who have dedicated their life to cinema will be shown. The programs are "Bantsuma: The Life of Tsumasaburo Bando," directed by Shunsui Matsuda, on Wednesday; "Actress," directed by Kon Ichikawa, on April 11; "Kenji Mizoguchi: The Life of a Film Director," directed by Kaneto Shindo, on April 18; and "I Lived, But . . : Biography of Yasujiro Ozu," directed by Kazuo Inoue, on April 25.
