The 18th Japan-Scottish Highland Games, featuring music, sports, dancing and other entertainment, will take place 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Soka campus of Ueno Gakuen.
Among the featured events are Scottish dancing with the Blue Bell dancers and bagpipe and other traditional music from from the Tokyo Piping Society.
On the sports field, there will be caber tossing, weight throwing, tug of war and the traditional hammer throw, which is different from the Olympic variety.
There is also a five-a-side soccer tournament, netball and track events. Anybody is welcome to enter and there will be children's categories in most events. Traditional food such as haggis will be available, along with pies, cakes and afternoon tea.
Entry is 1,500 yen for adults but children under 12 are admitted free. The price is 600 yen for students.
A shuttle bus will run from Matsubara Danchi Station on the Hibiya/Tobu Line and parking is available for those going by car.
