Under the auspices of the Mexican Embassy, Fiesta Mexicana 2000 in Odaiba will be held at the Aqua City complex Sept. 15-17.
The opening ceremony, Sept. 15 from 12:30 p.m., will be attended by the Mexican Ambassador, Manuel Uribe. Mariachi, folk dancing and singing will be performed 1-6:30 p.m. as well as Sept. 16, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sept. 17, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Also featured at Aqua City's main stage will be a Mexican fashion show, followed by the breaking of a pinata. On the Western Promenade, stalls will offer Mexican handicrafts plus food and drink.
In conjunction with the festival, an exhibition featuring Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta will be held at Hotel Grand Pacific event hall.
From among the people who buy an "amigo passport" (1,000 yen) for food and drink, there will be a drawing for which first prize is a six-day trip to Cancun, Mexico. Other prizes will be offered.
