The Cabinet approved a ¥21.9 trillion ($142 billion) economic stimulus package on Friday to help households cope with inflation and boost economic growth.
Of the total, ¥13.9 trillion will be in the form of spending. Loans and government investment are also planned.
Last year, the total stimulus was ¥21.8 trillion, with ¥13.2 trillion of spending.
