The transport ministry will support local governments that work to secure the capacity to transport local products through consultative groups comprising logistics-related organizations, it was learned Tuesday.
The measure is aimed at addressing what is known as the "2024 problem" in the logistics industry — or shortages of truck drivers due to stricter overtime rules — thus supporting regional economies.
The ministry plans to include the measure in the economic package due out this month. It will likely be financed with an expected supplementary budget for fiscal 2024.
