Ed Odeven
Ed Odeven covers primarily basketball for The Japan Times. He reported on a wide range of sports from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Summer Games for this newspaper. A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Odeven is a graduate of Arizona State University. He previously worked for the Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff, Ariz., reporting on high school, collegiate, professional and Olympic sports (Flagstaff is a major international Olympic training site due to its high elevation) and writing a weekly column. Broncos top 89ers in double OT
The host Saitama Broncos outlasted the Sendai 89ers 97-90 in double overtime Sunday in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture. Marcus Toney-El scored 23 points and Gordon James scored 22 for the Broncos, while Michael Chappell had 27 for the 89ers.

bj-league's 10th team to play in Fukuoka
Japan's first professional basketball league keeps growing. Next season, 10 bj-league teams will compete. The league's 10th franchise, the Fukuoka BB Boys, was revealed on Thursday. Earlier this fall, the league announced a to-be-named team will also begin play in 2007 in Okinawa.
