Japanese phenom Naoya Inoue made the crowd at the arena stand on its feet because of his explosive performance.
Challenger Inoue capped a second-round knockout win against legendary champion Omar Narvaez to become the new WBO super flyweight king at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
Inoue, who returned his WBC light flyweight belt to move up to the flyweight division after he defended it in September, revealed after the bout that he hurt his right knuckle early in the opening round. But he still managed to knock Narvaez down onto the canvas three times before he finished off the 39-year-old Argentine, who had taken only one loss in his pro career (43 wins, two draws), with a body blow late in Round 2.
