Japanese sharpshooter Taeko Takeba won the women's trap shoot at the World Cup Final meet in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, Japanese shooting officials reported Monday.
Takeba of the Ehime shooting association, qualified for the competition in fourth place and edged world record holder Elena Tkatch of Russia in the final to become the first Japanese shooter to win in the World Cup final.
The 35-year-old Takeba has been third in the World Cup rankings once and fourth twice. She finished 16th in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
