The political skills of one of the most popular politicians in Japan are likely to be put to a real test soon.
On Friday the ruling Liberal Democratic Party appointed Shinjiro Koizumi, a 34-year-old son of former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, as the head of the Agriculture and Forestry Division of the party's powerful Policy Research Council.
Under a LDP-led government, any important bill or government decision should receive advance approval from a division of the council.
