U.S. President George W. Bush arrived in Tokyo on Sunday afternoon for his first visit to Japan since his inauguration last year, on the first leg of a six-day tour of East Asia that will also take him to South Korea and China.
Air Force One landed with Bush and his entourage at Tokyo's Haneda airport at 3:45 p.m. amid tight security. Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi, Japanese Ambassador to the United States Ryozo Kato, and U.S. Ambassador to Japan Howard Baker greeted the president at the airport.
Bush will hold talks with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi this morning, covering a wide range of issues including joint antiterrorism efforts and ways to improve their economies and the global environment, according to Japanese and U.S. officials.
