Convenience stores still do a strong trade in their house brand, machine-produced coffee, but some have also started introducing new beverages utilizing the same machines that spit out their cups of joe.
FamilyMart recently launched a line of frappes, including the Famima Cafe Strawberry Frappe (¥290). It can be slightly annoying to open — maybe it was just my cup (or underdeveloped muscles) — but once you add milk and stir it around a bit, the final product is refreshing, with a sharp strawberry taste. It's perhaps a touch too sweet for the morning, but a good choice on a warm afternoon.
