Internationally renowned sci-fi anime series "Ghost in the Shell" is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new prequel, "Ghost in the Shell: The Movie."
Originally written by Masamune Shirow as a comic, the series had a strong impact on the cyberpunk subgenre of sci-fi, even influencing "The Matrix."
Co-directed by Kazuchika Kise, who recently worked on a four-film series titled "Ghost in the Shell: Arise," the new cinematic edition continues Kise's take on the original "Ghost in the Shell" concept and generally stays loyal to visions by his predecessors, such as Kenji Kamiyama, Mamoru Oshii and Shirow.
