The sculptor Julio Gonzalez (1876-1942) of Barcelona, Spain, was a well-known best friend of Pablo Picasso. Using iron instead of clay for his works, he helped introduce welding into the sculpture world. Though he was already in his 50s when he began sculpting, within 10 years of being an active artist, he established a striking signature style of cutting, manipulating and welding iron to be used with other materials in abstract works. This exhibition presents more than 100 works, including 55 sculptures and various drawings.
